(Castle Forbes) Myrtille Paulois is a 13-year-old Selle Français mare by Dollar du Mourier/Grand Veneur bred by Mme Agnes Grosz, France.

In the 1990’s Agnes Grosz, a former amateur show jumper, decided to start breeding sport horses and purchased a large number of broodmares. Among them was Rita la Rouge which Agnes Grosz bought for only 10.000 FF (1,500 EURO) as the mare was in a poor state.

The French stallion Dollar du Mûrier was increasingly popular and Agnes Grosz decided to breed Rita la Rouge to this successful sire. In 2000 Rita delivered a very small, fine and almost black little thing, which Agnes Grosz decided to name Myrtille which means Blueberry. The stud name Paulois is a contraction of Paul and Louis, the two sons of Agnes and Jean-Michel Grosz.

As Myrtille Paulois grew up Agnes and Jean-Michel Grosz decided to redirect their stud business into boarding and breeding race horses. Hence, at the age of three Myrtille was sold at the Marché Fences for 20,500 euro even without jumping.

Her new owner, Georgina Forbes, trusted the French rider Gilles Veron to train the mare and compete her at the age of 4, 5 and 6, before she Myrtille Paulois moved to the stables of her new rider in Germany, Irish Jessica Kürten. Myrtille and Jessica became a most successful couple, and already at the age of 9 Myrtille won several international Grand Prix and achieved top placings in some of the world’s most prestigious jumping shows.

In 2011 Georgina Forbes moved her horses to French rider Roger-Yves Bost, who then took over the reins of Myrtille Paulois. Once again, the highly talented mare easily converted into a new and successful partnership. Together the pair won the European Champions 2013 in Herning and in the same year the won the CSI5* GCT Lausanne and the CSI5* GCTCannes.
