Lex Lugar

born 2000, by Lordanos out of Feenmelodie by Landadel-Grandios

Breeder: Willy Heineking, Stolzenau
Owner: Angelika Jahr-Stilcken, Hamburg

Lex Lugar won the German Show Jumping Derby this year under Carsten-Otto Nagel – an exceptional stallion and a great victory for the Oldenburg Springpferdezuchtverband. "Lex Lugar is special because he has just the right mixture: enough respect for the fences on the course but also the courage needed to overcome them. And because he is so talented, he was able to master the course with ease – and I could tell that he actually enjoyed flying over the fences in the Derby," reported Carsten-Otto Nagel. The owner and sponsor of the stallion is Angelika Jahr-Stilcken, a member of the world famous publishing dynasty in Hamburg, also well-known for their breeding efforts.
The origin of this success can be attributed the dam line of Festane from which Lex Lugar comes. This family has produced many sport horses of extraordinary quality. Lex Lugar's dam, Feenmelodie, gave birth to several horses that were successful in show jumping. Her sister Larome produced two advanced (S) level dressage horses by Rubinstein, Royal Flair ridden by Tina Richter-Vietor and Rush on ridden by Henry Busch. In further generations you find genetic links to the Grand Prix stallion Rubioso N, born 1992, by Rubinstein out of Feenklang by Almeo-Vollkorn xx, bred by Josef Ortmann, Garrel, who collected ribbons under Ellen Bontje and Victoria Michalke and also the licensing winner Lord Kemm as well as the sire Continue.

VTV Dressage Stallion 2010

born 2000, by Likoto xx out of Dollargirl by Donnerhall-Ballou

Breeder: Richard Bopp, Butzbach-Griedel
Owner: Josef Kathmann, Hausstette,

The half-Thoroughbred stallion Licotus comes from the stallion line of Nearco xx which has had great influence on modern sport horse breeding through Tamerlane xx and his sons, Marlon xx, Shogun xx, Papayer xx, Cardinal xx, Sevillano xx, Diego xx and Heraldik xx. Licotus was licensed in Vechta in 2003 and just two years later, the black-brown stallion took the Reserve Champion title when the main premiums were awarded. His career in the dressage ring got off to an outstanding start with placings in tests for young riding horses. When he was just eight years old, Licotus won his first advanced level class and has meanwhile added further victories under Johannes Augustin up to Intermediaire I.
Licotus' dam line is also filled with high achievers. His younger brother, Classic Rock by Carabas, is licensed and Marcus Erken's advanced (S) level dressage horse, Royal Blue by Rubinstein, also comes from this line. Licotus has also proved his worth as a sire. Along with numerous auction horses, he is the sire of the stallions Licosto, Levante and Lunatico and the Rastede show mare Omegana-S.
