Hanoverian stallion Bergamon died Saturday night of complications following colic surgery a week ago, Paige Peters-Windham, his trainer and farm manager at Saddlebrook Equestrian Center reported.
Bergamon was a 1994 stallion by Baryshnikov out of a Pik Konig mare and licensed as a Hanoverian breeding stallion by the Hanoverian and Oldenburg Verbands as well as ISR/NA and RPSI. He was imported by
Paige said that Bergamon underwent colic surgery on Saturday, June 19, and was recovering well and doing great. Nevertheless he developed pneumonia, whereafter his condition continued to deteriorate.
Bergamon won both his 100 Day Stallion Test and his Performance Test. He was imported to the U.S. as an eight-year-old by Star Gate Sport Horses of Bartonville, Texas, then sold late in 2009 to Saddlebrook Equestrian Center.
He sired Bugatti Hilltop and Baroncelli, both Premium Stallions.
