Abdullah inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame

The Trakehner stallion Abdullah by Donauwind was honored on April 4, 2009 at the American Invitational Grand Prix in Tampa, Florida by being inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame.

Presently there are 16 horses and 45 people who are members of this elite group. Abdullah will join 6 horses from the current era of the sport like Touch of Class, Idle Dice, Calypso, Jet Run, Gem Twist and For the Moment.

Abdullah’s career highlights include Olympic Team Gold and Individual Silver Medals in 1984, and he was the winner of the 1985 World Cup in Show Jumping. In 1986, he won Team Gold and Individual Silver Medals at the World Championships in Aachen.

As a sire, he has produced numerous international show jumpers as well as approved stallions in various warmblood registries. His bloodlines remain well-represented and to this day, he remains the most successful Trakehner show jumper of all times.

At the Induction Ceremony, Sue Williams, Abdullah’s owner was be accompanied by his rider Conrad Homfeld and Nancy Divita who devoted her time to his care in his later years. Representatives of the Schickedanz family, who brought Abdullah’s pregnant dam over from Germany in 1969 were also present.
