Already in the first round of the 2009 Dutch Dressage Championships Edward Gal took the lead aboard the incredible Moorlands Totilas - a 9 year old black Dutch stallion by Gribaldi / Glendale. A stunningly handsome horse that gives every little inch of itself in every performance.

In the Grand Prix Totilas proved to master all Dutch competition and beat Sunrise and Salinero by scoring 77.063%. After having defeated the triple Olympic champion Anky van Grunsven on Salinero, Gal and Totilas put in another stellar performance. In his first Grand Prix Special ever, the 9-year old Totilas scored 9s and 10s for piaffe and passage.
Unfortunately there was a mistake in the transition from passage to canter where Totilas for once spooked but that was the only mistake. The judges awarded the ride with 80.41%. Van Grunsven and Salinero finished second with 76.500%

Edward on Totilas: "Totilas is a very special horse. He has an incredible amount of talent; it’s simply a pleasure to ride him. Totilas is everything a rider could want!"

Moorlands Totilas is without a doubt the horse which is expected to beat Salinero and Satchmo at the 2009 European Championships, but the competition is going to get tough in Windsor, not least if the other world class horse from Holland, Parzival by Jazz, will be back in competion.
