Magnificent Championships at Le Lion d'Angers

The WBCSH in eventing was yet again successfully hosted by the French national stud at Le Lion d'Angers.
The class for 6 year old horses was won by the French bred horse Oslo ridden by Great Britain's William Fox-Pitt. This superb horse is sired by the former Olympic silver medalist (2000) in show jumping Lando and with Anglo Arab Hadja as his dam sire.
Oslo took the lead right from the dressage test on the first day and had strong competition from Billy Landretti, an Irish Sport Horse by Vechta and ridden by Pippa Funnell, and Saarten-Union's Charlie Weld, a Hanoverian by Connery and ridden by Kai Rüder from Germany, who took silver and bronze in this class. Pictured on the left is the winning team Oslo and William Fox-Pitt.
Pippa Funnell, Kai Rüders and William Fox-Pitt all did very well in the class for 7 year old horses as well, but the top match was between Great Britain's Ruth Edge and Malin Larsson of Sweden.
The Hanoverian Walter von der Vogelweide by Waldstar XX proved to be the fastest in the cross where the KWPN bred Nick of Thyme by Hornet Rose earned 1,20 penalties for exceeding the time, so the horses swobbed placings after the cross, now with the Swedish rider in the lead.
Malin Larsson managed to stay in front and earned a world championship for the Hanoverian studbook with Walter von der Vogelweide in front of silver medallist Ruth Egde aboard Nick of Thyme. Bronze went to Pippa Funnell riding Redesigned by French jumper Carnute (Eqeust).
The total standing of studbooks turned in the favour of the Hanoverian studbook in front of the studbook for Irish Sport Horses.
