On Wednesday evening, February 4th, the KWPN will open the 2009 Stallion Selection with a special program called KWPN College. The program will take place in the main arena and offer ringside seating to facilitate an interactive environment. Its purpose is to give foreign guests insight into the KWPN selection method. All breeding directions will be represented, and the connection between breeding, bloodlines, selection, and top sporthorses will be discussed.

Inspector Jacques Verkerk will lecture on functionality and conformation of horses from the KWPN's four breeding directions and illustrate his points using several demonstration horses presented in-hand in the ring. Next, several Stallion Selection Committee members will discuss the role of the performance test in the selection process as a number of horses are presented in the ring under saddle. The performance test training and evaluation process will also be demonstrated. Stallion Selection Committee members Pieter Kersten and Daan Nanning will discuss the jumping bred horses; and Jacques Laarakkers, Wim Ernes, and former Committee member Frenk Jespers will discuss the dressage horses. In addition, Olympic medal winner Rolf Goran Bengtsson will talk about his mount Ninja, an outstanding example of what KWPN horses can achieve! Also an Olympic competitor in dressage will tell about the Olympic experience on the back of a KWPN horse.

The KWPN College moderator is Maria Henneman. In her usual professional manner, she will provide the link between the experts in the ring and the audience participants during this complete and unique program.
