No doubt that course designer  Eugène Mathy had built a difficult course for the 40 contenders in the 6-year-olds final, however, half of them cleared the course faultlessly, and 20 combinations made it to the jump-off.

Irish Gerard O'Neill and his ISH mare Columbcille Gipsy gave their fellow competitors a hard time when they had cleared the jump-off course with no faults and in the time 38.38 seconds. After the last horse had finished the course it was clear to everyone that Gerard O'Neill, last year's winner of the 6-year-olds final, retained the coveted title to take home another gold medal for Ireland. This time aboard the speedy mare by Toulon x Grundyman bred by Eamon Murphy and Gerard O'Neil. As a 5-year-old Columbcille Gipsy was also in the finals last year.

This also counts for Oak Grove's Darshan which has been in the hands of German Harm Lahde since the age of 2,5 years. Today the combination flew through the jump-off course in 40.98 seconds and with no penalites. This impressive clear round placed Harm Lahde and the bay SF stallion by Diamant de Semilly x Baloubet du Rouet (bred by Claire Gouin) in second place securing the silver medal for the owner Gestüt Eichenhain GmbH.

Belgian Caroline de Laet has only ridden Halland van de Mispelaere by Hasali van de Mispelaere x Landsieger I (bred by Van Den Abeele) since July this year but that did not keep the combination from claimin a medal at the FEI/WBFSH world Breeding Championships for 6-year-old jumping horses. They Belgian combination landed third place and bronze.
