242 fault-free on first competition day

By the end of the first competition day 91 five-year-olds, 88 six-year-olds and 73 seven-year-olds were clear in the first qualifications

91 combinations clear in the first qualifier for 5-year-old horses..There were 236 competitors in the first qualifier for 5-year-old horses in the Almé Z arena. In this class over a height of 1m25 no less than 91 combinations managed to note a clear round, while ten combinations ended the course with one time penalty.

Italian victory in first qualification for 6-year-old horses..No less than 273 horses participated in the first qualifier for 6-year-old horses in Zangersheide. 88 of them managed to jump up a double clear round and it was the Italian Filippo Martini di Cigala who took home the winnings. He finished in exactly 28 seconds with Saetta del Terriccio (Can Can del Terriccio). The second place was for Donald Whitaker, who also finished third in the first qualifier for 7-year-old horses. This time he rode Chilli (Colestus - Breeder: Erich Schoch) with whom he stopped the clock in 28.25 seconds. The third place went again to Italy thanks to Filippo Lupis and Gotham City Pl (Filou de Muze). They finished their jump-off in 28.30 seconds. Matthew Sampson and Happy-Fomia (Spartacus - Breeder: MM Hooijmans) finished fourth in 28.34 secons. Virginie Thonon noted the best Belgian result. She finished fifth with Corsica de Greenbay Z (Calido I - Breeder: Stephane Chantot) in 28.51 seconds.

Ireland takes the lead in first qualification for 7-year-old horses..203 combinations appeared at the start in the first qualification for 7-year old horses. No less than 73 combinations noted a double clear in this two-phase class over a height of 1m40. It was Ireland who claimed the victory thanks to Susan Fitzpatric and her brown gelding Keatingstown Z Wellie Two (Z Wellie 72 - Breeder: Sharon Fitzpatrick). They were able to stop the clock in 29.33 seconds. Also Carron Nicol produced a very fast jump-off: the British finished second in 29.80 seconds with Galerius (Diamant De Semilly - Breeder: Stoeterij het Maalwater). Also the third place went to Great Britain thanks to Donald Whitaker. He stopped the clock in 30.20 seconds with Toki II (Cascall - Breeder: Willi Sander). For Christian Ahlmann there was a fourth place in 30.24 seconds with his home-bred Zampano Z. Willem Greve and Grandorado TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek - Breeder: Rietberg & Verhoeven) closed the top five in 30.29 seconds.
